about

Ambient Death Machine take you for a ride with their debut album.
"Shera Beg’s Revenge Just For The Evulz (The Great Locomotive Heist Through the Forest of 1000 Lanterns and Beyond the Century Clock)"

Ambient Death Machine’s "Shera Beg's Revenge" for short, is an unintended sonic interpretation of the 1955 novel "The Forest of Boland Light Rail". In quite extraordinary fashion ADM translate every minute detail from the seminal steampunk novella into an evocative and dense evolving soundscape. The uncanny resemblance to the children’s book cannot be overstated as neither Stewart Shepherd (electronics) nor Stuart Orchard (‘diadophone’ a DIY monochord) had read or even heard of it before pressing record in November 2023 or before compiling the three improvisations into one heinous soundtrack over the following few months. Absolutely no consideration was taken whatsoever to the English tale set on the banks of Folly Brook in Warwickshire, but no less than one superficial google search (and no more than five) produced enough general information about the retro-futuristic adventure to confirm this billion-to-one synchronicity; at least enough for Stew and Stu anyway, and certainly enough in the post-truthiness age in which we live and breath right now. The 126 page fictional story, fastidiously sonically translated by ADM, successfully takes from the middle-earth of J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Hobbit" and a nightmarish version of "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends".

For more information about (and more proof of) this highly improbable feat continue reading below and keep an eye out for imminent updates - an upcoming appendage, for example, with specific scene-by-scene breakdowns matching the insane sounds to the equally insane plot line of "The Forest of Boland Light Rail".

Like everyone now, if you have no time or inclination to continue to ignore the pit of distraction probably in your hand, look away now!

Read more about the precise marrying between "The Forest of Boland Light Rail" and ADM’s debut long-player? How about this plot summary just from Wikipedia!

"Years earlier, a community of gnomes in the Forest of Boland build a narrow gauge railway to transport their miners to the gold mines and cope with the growing yields of ore. Some wicked goblins steal the steam locomotive named the Boland Belle, overrun the town and enslave the population, but are eventually driven out of the forest by a friendly tribe of Cowzies."

Still not convinced?! Stay tuned! The near impossible truth will be elucidated in approaching days with aforementioned scene-by-scene / sound-action unity breakdown all in one easy-to-read document.

Bye for now!

about

Ambient Death Machine Australia

Stew Shepherd and Stu Orchard cross paths in the experimental music scene of Boorloo/Perth, Western Australia, and decide to jam. A cancellation at a friend's gig meant ADM was born before Stu and Stew had even made a sound.

Stew Shepherd's modular synthesis channels and blows apart Stu Orchard's self-made string instrument 'diadophone'. Together Stew and Stu become one Ambient Death Machine.
